- American Heart Association’s Multi-Regional Training Center (MRTC)
- System All Hazards Preparedness and Safety/Health Compliance
- Information and Research Coordination through the Center’s Library
The Fire/EMS/Safety Center provides statewide oversight of training and education to Fire, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Emergency Management/ Homeland Security, Mine Safety and Health (MSHA) and Environmental/Occupational Health & Safety services.
The Center staff works in partnership with agencies, organizations, business and industry, to provide Minnesota communities with the highest quality educational resources. The Center serves as the federal training contact point for the United States Fire Administration, Federal Emergency Management Agency and U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
The Center’s MRTC (Multi Regional Training Center) staff manages the System’s American Heart Association’s contract. The MRTC serves 3,000 instructors across the state by providing current teaching materials and information in CPR, Automatic External Defibrillation (AED) and First Aid instruction. The MRTC instructors trained 80,000 students last year, making it the largest training center in the country.
The Center’s EHS (Environmental/Health and Safety) staff is responsible for the oversight of internal environmental, occupational, building and fire code compliance at all 53 campus locations.
The Center serves as the point of contact for all regulatory agencies in the state to manage and remediate compliance concerns that are brought forward regarding our campuses.
The Center houses a specialized Fire, EMS, Safety library staffed with research librarians. The library has over 4,000 books, 100 journals and other on-line resources. One of 7 national fire, EMS and safety libraries, it is part of the international InFIRE Library Group which connects our system training programs to libraries worldwide.
