June 2005 Dental Update
June 2005
Important notice to Dental Office and Dental professional trainers:
(please share with your instructors)
I wanted to make sure you knew about a letter the American Red Cross (St. Paul Chapter) has sent out stating that "the basic level of CPR training that your office has been part of in the past does not meet the new requirements set by the MN Board of Dentistry."
The American Heart Association Healthcare Provider course does meet the requirement. Please do not let your clients believe they need to have Red Cross training instead of American Heart Association courses.
I would suggest you call your dental office clients to reassure them, and if you have not scheduled a HCP course recently, ask to schedule it now. Please remember, the Heartsaver CPR course will no longer meet the requirements for regulated dental professionals, they will need a current HCP card prior to renewing their dental registration.
Here is a link to the Board of Dentistry with the specific requirements and language. http://www.dentalboard.state.mn.us/Default.aspx?tabid=884 <http://www.dentalboard.state.mn.us/default.aspx?tabid-884>
As you schedule courses for dental offices, please make sure you are offering the Healthcare Provider course when required and issuing an American Heart Association course card to ensure proper documentation. A CEU certificate indicating hours may also be necessary but does not supercede the need for an American Heart Association certification card.
Please call me with any questions.
